What is ExoState ?

ExoState is a technically minded community of individuals who seek to develop their own ability to live independently. Rather than focusing on building large corporations, the members of ExoState focus on building their own businesses at home or in small, general use, offices.
ExoState does have a goal beyond this. It is a community which seeks to develop its own technologies that allow the exostate itself, meaning those areas of a country that don't fall directly under the control of the government because they are people's private houses, to develop. For this reason the Exostate community seeks to develop its own home education capability and permaculture to grow food. ExoState also provides technical training to develop websites and applications. ExoState also runs its own social events and this allows members to gather together and avoid isolation which can be an issue for small businesses running from home.
ExoState and the Network State Movement
ExoState's model is a transnational, parallel, virtual state operating as a community with its own governance rather than running as a sovereign polity. It is broadly part of the network state movement which seeks to build similar types of networks. Exostate's focus, however is very much on communities living and building capabilities within existing nations states, rather than prioritising building a sovereign state as many network state groups do. If, however, a network state group is able to develop its own sovereign polity then the ExoState network would not have an in principle objection to working with them and may provide significant and trained human resources for such a polity.
